At F. ENGEL, we take responsibility for and contribute to the society we are a part of, no matter where in the world we operate. We do this through our CSR policy, which has four different focus areas:

Social conditions

At F. ENGEL we offer equal opportunities to both genders. All employees must have equal opportunities to enjoy a career with the company. Irrespective of gender and age. The company's statistics on gender equality between applicants for advertised positions and gender distribution among employees with a view to ensuring coherence between the applicants’ gender distribution.

Employee relations

F. ENGEL wants a healthy psychosocial and physical working environment. For us, it is important that our employees thrive both at work and off work, because we believe that work and leisure are inextricably linked. We listen to our employees’ wishes, and try in so far as is possible to find solutions which are tailored to the individual employee. We do this through ongoing interviews, including an employee appraisal interview.

We take an interest in our employees. If the employees are not well, it affects their work. Therefore, after three months of working at F. ENGEL, all employees are offered company health insurance. In addition, the company offers a canteen scheme which serves healthy food, and once or twice a year a company event is organised involving physical activities and socialising, including a joint meal. The events are extremely popular, and always a great success.

Each year, we do a satisfaction survey measuring mental health and well-being based on questions about targets, cooperation and job satisfaction.

Policy on human rights and anti-corruption

We pursue human rights and an anti-corruption policy:

• F. ENGEL K/S complies with BSCI requirements

• We support the 10 principles of the UN Global Compact within the areas of human rights, labour rights, the environment and anti-corruption

We support the new 17 sustainable development goals set by the UN
We will continue to inform our cooperation partners of F. ENGEL’s human rights and anti-corruption policy throughout the supply chain, as also described in our supplier handbook.

Supplier & Subsupplier
F. ENGEL prohibits its own suppliers and their subsuppliers from using child labour (children < 15 years). F. ENGEL’s suppliers must meet the following requirements:

• The workers’ minimum age must not be under 15 years (14 years in countries where the employer’s association and the workers allow) according to the International Labour Organisation (ILO) convention.

• It is not permitted to use illegal workers or forced labour.

F. ENGEL encourages its suppliers to respect the following human rights for workers. If the rules are not complied with, the cooperation will cease and orders will be cancelled.

Ban on child labour
§1: Child labour which is contrary to national legislation in the country of origin or the UNICEF Convention on the Rights of the Child* must not be used in production either by the supplier or a subcontractor.

§ 2: We, as the buyer (or another party designated by us), reserve the right to carry out random checks of any production site at any time.

§ 3: At our buyer’s request, the supplier undertakes to produce a list with detailed information on the location of production units, factories and subsuppliers used for the production of goods ordered by F. ENGEL.

§ 4: *) UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, Article 32: 1: “The parties recognize the right of the child to be protected from economic exploitation and from performing any work that is likely to be hazardous or to interfere with the child’s education, or to be harmful to the child’s health or physical, mental, spiritual, moral or social development.”

Environment and climate

F. ENGEL’s employees are the company's most important asset, and crucial to the company’s success and results. Therefore, F. ENGEL's employees are not exposed to greater risks than what is justified by the best insights and knowledge. Employees in the company must be able to expect that – even after many years of employment – they are not worn-out by or have suffered undue strain through performing their work.

F. ENGEL issues a quality requirements manual to its suppliers, in which we ask our suppliers and subsuppliers to share the contents with their suppliers. This covers the delivery of raw components, whatever the supply chain, including the chemical restrictions and test programme, that meet the requirements concerning the ban on harmful substances in products.

F. ENGEL expects all conditions to be met, and reserves the right to carry out unannounced inspections at each factory to ensure that each supplier lives up to the specified terms and conditions. Furthermore, F. ENGEL encourages its entire supplier network to do its utmost to improve the social, environmental and working conditions for their employees. F. ENGEL complies with EU and Danish legislation concerning chemical restrictions which, according to the law are classified as dangerous and prohibited, as also mentioned in the trading agreements between F. ENGEL and the supplier.

If the above requests are not respected by the supplier, all existing orders will be cancelled, and F. ENGEL will stop cooperating with the supplier with immediate effect.
